FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington County GOP Opposes Bartlesville Bond Propositions on February 10 Ballot
Bartlesville, OK — February 4, 2026 — The Washington County Republican Party announced its official opposition to the Bartlesville bond propositions appearing on the February 10, 2026 municipal election ballot, citing clear and longstanding principles outlined in the Oklahoma Republican Party Platform.
The Oklahoma GOP Platform explicitly opposes the use of sales tax and use tax revenue bonds for local capital improvements. Under the platform’s Government – Taxation section, Republicans affirm that city and county improvements should be funded on a pay-as-you-go basis and should not incur new taxes or long-term debt obligations.
Additionally, the platform emphasizes the importance of transparent and honest government at all levels, including state, county, and local agencies. Voters deserve clear information about how their tax dollars are used and the long-term financial impact of bond proposals.
The platform further states that Oklahoma’s economic growth should be driven by a favorable business climate, not by tax increases or government subsidies tied to individual projects or entities.
In alignment with these principles, the Washington County GOP County Committee has directed its Chairman to publicly oppose the Bartlesville ballot propositions and to communicate that opposition through press releases and direct outreach.
The message to voters is clear:
“If you want to reduce your local taxes, you must say NO to the Bartlesville ballot propositions.”
The Washington County GOP encourages citizens to carefully consider the long-term tax implications of these bond proposals and to vote in accordance with conservative fiscal principles that prioritize limited government, transparency, and responsible budgeting.
For more information, voters are encouraged to review the Oklahoma Republican Party Platform and participate in the February 10, 2026 election.
