FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: WCGOP County Committee Passes Resolution Against LGBT Promotion and Indoctrination in Public Places
The Washington County GOP County Committee passed a resolution condemning the promotion and indoctrination of LGBT ideology in public spaces within the City of Bartlesville and Washington County.
The Resolution was adopted in response to recent Pride events held at public venues such as Bartlesville’s Unity Square, which organizers have promoted as “family friendly.” The Resolution notes that some of these events have included drag performances and lewd acts in front of children—behavior defined by the Bartlesville Municipal Code as lewd conduct and prohibited under city ordinance.
The Resolution states that the sexual nature of such performances constitutes grooming and normalizes inappropriate sexual behavior in public settings. It also highlights the significant taxpayer expense incurred to provide additional police presence and fencing for these events, estimated at $30,000 for a single day.
Quoting Pastor Dustin Owen, the Resolution emphasizes the moral, ethical, and biblical dimensions of this issue, reaffirming that the Republican Party stands for the protection of children and the preservation of community standards. The Oklahoma Republican Party Platform supports the right of local governments to prohibit displays of a sexual nature, including pride parades and drag shows, from public view.
The Resolution strongly urges the Washington County Commissioners and Bartlesville City Council to prohibit drag performances and sexually oriented displays in public or publicly visible spaces, and to ensure that Bartlesville’s Municipal Code on lewd conduct is enforced.
