FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The Washington County GOP County Committee passed a resolution against the use of surveillance cameras

The Washington County GOP County Committee passed a resolution against the use of surveillance cameras at the October 28th committee meeting.

The Resolution cited the 4th Amendment of the US Constitution and the Article in the Oklahoma Constitution that protects citizens against warrantless search and seizures.

The Resolution also stated that Rep. Gann has said that this technology, “allows distant governments to track the movements of Oklahomans, with no recourse against abuses by politicized agencies who may have access, such as the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives”, as well as a statement from the Deputy Director of Oklahoma Department Of Transportation, that states that these on illegal on any state roadways.

The Resolution strongly condemned the usage of these cameras and “urges our County, City and State elected officials to reject any of these types of Orwellian surveillance cameras on County, City and State roadways by not allowing placement of these surveillance cameras and remove existing cameras” as well as demanding that the Washington County Commissioners and Bartlesville City Council Members retract any current agreements with Flock.
